Social Networking to Help Build the WOW Experiance!
I Strongly believe that one path to help build a WOW
experience in TD's House is though a Social networking tool!!!!
Such a tool will create an environment where TD employees can
interact with one another and use each other as resources, not only
in their work life, but also in their own personal lives. Such a
tool will build a connection with our TD peers and a sense of
family, which in my opinion will contribute to living the WOW
experience and as a result help show our customers a WOW
experience. My feeling is, you can't sell a WOW experience if you
don't know/believe in/feel/experience it yourself. Many parts of
the WOW puzzle are already in place and this will contribute one
more environment that TD employees can feel proud about.
This tool is an example of different social networking tools
available. The key benefit to this tool over any others, is that it
has a corporate mind set. Compared to already massive, well used
social networking tools/content management systems including
facebook, myspace, blackboard, moodle, which are all focused on
either students or the general public, this application provides
tools and services that help benefit a business. Possibilities for
this tool would include, a resource where people can coordinate car
pools, a location where people can find out about corporate deals
offered at different companies, sell personal items such as leaf
tickets or your old washer and dryer, share useful web links and
information with peers, read a weekly blog by senior TD members
about their reactions to events related to TD, or even find a third
baseman for their softball team. These are just a few examples.
The goal here is not like facebook or my space where you try
to make as many friends and talk to them, but rather to provide a
means to create a connection with employees, further build the TD
family and create an environment where you look out for your
family. I have experienced similar tools at other companies and it
is well used by those employees. I think such a tool can work here
as well! I don't have much more to add at this point so lets see
where this goes!!!!
