I know this is going to look like advertising for PolicyNet.
It's not meant that way at all. Ah, what the heck.
For X-Mas my spouse gave me a trip to Budapest to continue my
explorations of the world that once stood behind the infamous Iron
Curtain. I've managed to visit quite a few ex-soviet countries over
the past few years of intermittent living in Berlin. As I tick one
country after another off of my 'to visit' list, Hungary and
Romania have been moving incrementally upwards, to the top.
Anyhow, in preparation for my trip, this afternoon I started
bumping around the internet looking for information about Hungary
-- you know, the kind of historical, anthropological and political
tidbits a public policy student arms him or herself with before
visiting a new country -- when to my great delight I discovered
PolicyNet's Country Profiles section.
Brief, concise, up-to-date, and somehow less American-centric
than what one finds on the CIA factbook, this is a great resource
for public policy people (PPPs) of all walks. So, again, at risk of
making The Water Cooler look like an infomercial, I highly
recommend this great resource. Heck, maybe I'll go see what else
this site has to offer -- aside, that is, from class-act blogging.
Happy New Years!
