I started blogging back in 2002 and for a long time there
were skeptics who would dismiss the medium as nothing more than emo
whining. Yes, there
was emo whining, but there were also a lot of interesting
conversations that often took place and it started to change the
way that people thought about traditional media outlets.
I remember reading about the
Columbia
space shuttle accident back in 2003 on
TheStar.Com and then reading
the blogs of people living in Texas that reported seeing wreckage
strewn along the highway from the space shuttle. I didn't have to
wait for a journalist to report on it, people just wrote about
their experience.
Brittney Gilbert has a f
unny
post about Twitter versus blogs. Twitter will catch on
eventually, but in the meantime, the skeptics will always be there
shouting from the cheap seats.
