Tim Hortons dodges the angry internet bullet

This morning at 4:30 AM, the Toronto Star posted a story on its website about a Tim Hortons employee who was fired over giving a baby a Timbit. I'm sure there are other elements to the story that maybe aren't being told, but that's enough to get a fire going.

At 10:14 AM, there was a followup story about the woman being rehired at another location, and an acknwledgement that the firing was an overreaction.

From what I can tell, this was handled very well by the PR people at Tim Hortons as this is exactly the kind of thing that would go viral on blogs and Facebook-- a large corporation versus a worker giving a Timbit to a baby.

When I read the original article this morning, I thought to myself that I would probably receive an invite to a group on Facebook protesting this action by the end of the day. Perhaps the Tim Hortons people thought the same thing too. I'm impressed they got the whole thing resolved in less than 6 hours after the story broke.
