$600 Travel Award for the

Second International Conference on Community Psychology in Lisbon, Portugal

Division 27, American Psychological Association --The Society for Community Research & Action (SCRA)

ICCP TRAVEL AWARD INFORMATION
As a whole Division 27, like many other social justice oriented organizations, has increased its purview to address global in addition to regional and national community psychology (CP) discourse. Students engaged in community research are especially interested in global issues and appear to be increasingly earnest in their consideration of how CP principles and tenets apply to global community and health policy disparities. Many have expressed interest in attending the Second International Conference on Community Psychology, and have inquired about the availability of awards to support their travel and participation.

To address these inquiries, Division 27's National Student Representatives, with the approval of its Executive Committee, have created a new travel award for students interested in attending the Second International Conference on Community Psychology (2nd ICCP) to be held 4-6 June 2008, in Lisbon, Portugal. This travel award is in the amount of $600 (USD). Regrettably, funds are available to support only one ICCP Travel Award this year. However, this award will hopefully be offered again for future ICCPs, and to hopefully more than one student per year.

Eligibility for this award will be limited to current student members of SCRA (both graduate and undergraduate). Applicants are required to submit a 1-2 page proposal wherein they (1) describe their interests in linking CP research and practice to international/global efforts, (2) outline a travel budget, and (3) include their CV. Other determining factors for the award will be the applicant's number of ICCP presentation submissions, order of authorship, distance traveled, and indicators of demonstrated need. Application materials may be submitted electronically (as a ".doc" file), or via post, to Marco Hidalgo via the contact information below. All application materials (attached to this email) must be received by 5 pm (US Central time) on Friday, 21 March 2008. The award recipient will be announced by Friday, 4 April 2008.
