Advisor (Peace Building & Conflict Prevention)

Description:  Under the overall guidance of the Country Director and under direct supervision of the Deputy Country Director (Programme), the Advisor (Peace Building & Conflict Prevention) will work to increase the capacity of the Country Office to mainstream peacebuilding and conflict prevention in the country programme and provide strategic and technical advice to programme staff and senior management on UNDP role as a peacebuilding institution in the context of Afghanistan’s evolving conflict situation.
The Advisor (Peace Building & Conflict Prevention) will also work in close collaboration with the Programme and Projects teams, staff of other UN agencies, UNDP HQs staff (Bureau for Conflict Prevention and Recovery) and Government officials, subject matter experts, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society to strengthen UNDP position in the coordination of the international community’s peace building and conflict prevention efforts in Afghanistan.
