Creative Commons LicenseProtecting our partner content. Information stored in the Electronic Documents Collection in the IGLOO Library is protected by a Creative Commons ("CC") license, except where otherwise indicated.

The CC license provides the author with functional protection unlike, but in addition to, the traditional copyright, as well as a machine-readable expression of the freedoms associated with the document.

The licensee is allowed to:

  • Retain the original copyright of the work (in addition to);
  • Copy the work;
  • Distribute the work;
  • Display or perform it publicly; and/or
  • Shift the work into another format as a verbatim copy.

The CC is an international license and lasts for the duration of the work's copyright. IGLOO's Creative Commons Deed explains in plain language that the license allows others to copy, distribute, and display your work under the following conditions:

  • Attribution: users must give you credit.
  • Non-Commercial: users may not use your work for commercial purposes.
  • Validity: Users may not alter, transform, or build upon your work, unless otherwise permitted by you.

Once applied, the CC license in not revocable, and cannot be altered. As the original author or copyright owner, you can opt out of the application of a CC license to your work at the time of submission. The Creative Commons license is complementary & conducive to international governance research, because it allows for the necessary access, discussions and dissemination of current research in international governance.
