In the last three weeks since the end of the summit, we have written various op-eds and articles on the structural innovation (the Heiligendamm Process) that was the key outcome of the 2007 G8 Summit. Summit Snapshots on Day 2 

As we head back to Berlin on the train after a long day 2 at the media centre, we have been reflecting on the day's events and the summit outcomes. We will post a more comprehensive overview in the next few days, but for now we leave you with some of the key issues that were generating buzz as we departed Kuehlungsborn.

The G8 as Complex Diplomacy 

The G8 conforms to a classic model of complex diplomacy. Certainly there are multiple agendas, actors and time-frames. The main face of the summit has been the roundtable meetings of the leaders of the 8 countries, albeit with sherpas and translators close at hand. Radiating out of this core has been a wide numbers of bilaterals, in which an elaborate dance has taken place to pair up specific leaders.
