Today's Features WATERLOO - After a while, the stories start to sound the same. Another woman is savagely raped, another victim of a decade-long war in the Democratic Republic of Congo. But it's important to listen to each individual voice, and offer humanitarian support in a way that fits with the woman's culture, experts said at the Centre for International Governance Innovation during a panel discussion on March 11. [MORE] [EN FRANÇAIS] Last week, as a group of eleven women passed through security at a federal building in Washington, DC, a security guard asked where the group was from. “Sudan,” one of them answered. “Where are the men?” he followed-up. After a brief pause, one replied, “At home, fighting each other.” [MORE] [EN FRANÇAIS] Representatives from various human rights organizations unite in conversation on the effects of understanding identity. [MORE] [EN FRANÇAIS] Post-election violence targeting women is among the issues forcing the international community to re-think its approach to achieving gender equality in the east African nation. [MORE] [EN FRANÇAIS] 10 years after Canadian funds for gender equality were ‘mainstreamed' into development programming, international women's rights groups' claim that they still don't have the resources they need to bring about real change.
