Biography
My lifelong work as facilitative educator, coach and consultant, community organizer, activist, and writer has been concerned with recurrent themes, for instance the value of participatory research as foundational to complex change, and the efficacy of voice, communal and individual, to a fully inclusive process of community vitalization. Some of the questions emerging from this experience are richly pragmatic: Who are the audience and who the actors when voices are raised for change? How to work respectfully across borders of difference when stakes are so disparate? How to deal with the conflict, claims, and issues of appropriation that surface when outcomes become palpable and claimable? And how is it possible to capture or measure impalpable change that is nonetheless life-altering?Emerging from 3 years of intensive work in low-income neighbourhoods of Saint John, I am seeking new opportunities for consultative coaching to extend these themes collaboratively.
