Portal for North America introduced at ACSUS

CIGI's new research-led online resource for North American studies is now available. Portal for North America is open to participants at this week's ACSUS biennual conference in Toronto.

Portal for North America (PNA) is a unique web-based tool for knowledge exchange within Canada, Mexico and the United States. Built by the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), it provides freely accessible avenues for research, education and network-building on critical continental issues.

A beta version of PNA was launched on Thursday to the biennual conference of the Association of Canadian Studies in the United States, in Toronto. This large group of Canadian and American scholars have provided many constructive ideas for the full version of the resource. Most appealing to them has been PNA's teaching resources, as developed by the Building North America project at Arizona State University. This set of case studies, teaching notes and additional resources are meant to be complementary to existing political science, business and international relations courses. Instructors will find these materials useful to build one or two day lessons on specific issues on North American relations.

The full site is planned to launch in Spring 2008, and will have an extensive research library of digital documents, a statistics resource, the teaching modules, blogs and discussion forums, as well as an extensive calendar of North American events and a noticeboard of activities.
