Working Group on Nuclear Strategy
Halifax, Nova Scotia

The Working Group on Nuclear Strategy of the Halifax Branch of the CIC has the goal of expanding Canada’s domestic competence on strategic nuclear issues. The Working Group is currently organizing a workshop on ‘American Nuclear Strategy and the Implications to Global Security’ that will take place in 2008.

The Group is formed from a nucleus of strategic studies experts who are based in Halifax and currently associated with the Centre for Foreign Policy Studies (CFPS) at Dalhousie University. Two external members-at-large are also included in the Organization Committee as advisors to the Working Group. Additional experts will also be invited to participate as members of the Group in order to deepen the linkages within Canada’s small strategic studies community and expand ties with nuclear strategists from abroad.

The Working Group currently includes David McDonough (Chair), Alexandre Wilner (Vice Chair), and Dr. Frank Harvey from Dalhousie University, as well as external members-at-large and project advisors Dr. Douglas Ross from Simon Fraser University and Dr. George Lindsey, Chair of the Ottawa-CIC Branch ‘Working Group on National Security’.
