About Us
The Boston Branch is the only CIC branch located outside of Canada. It was organized in 1998 to serve members in this country, particularly in New England and the Northeast. Members have included Americans interested in Canada, Canadians resident in the U.S. and their friends, and others who have a professional, scholarly, or business interest in the full range of global issues. We have established linkages with this region's unique and world-class research and academic community, particularly with the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard, and with the principal nonprofit organizations in Boston concerned with foreign affairs.
Actual membership has fluctuated over the years, but the Boston Branch has always mounted a full schedule of programs, often in collaboration with our sister institutions in the Boston/Cambridge community. Past speakers at Branch events have included former Prime Minister Kim Campbell, former Foreign Minister Barbara McDougall, Ambassador Michael Bell, and Professor Stephen Clarkson.
